- Jun 9, 2026 We held a drinking party at an izakaya in Shimotori.

- Apr 15, 2026 Research findings by Prof. Gu have been published, and a joint press release was issued by Kumamoto University, Nagoya University, and Kyushu University.
- Apr 7, 2026 A doctoral student (D1), twelve master's students (M1), and nine undergraduate students (B4) have joined our lab as new members.
- Mar 25, 2026 A commencement and degree conferral ceremony was held, and five master’s students and nine undergraduate students from our laboratory received their degrees. After the ceremony, we held a farewell party in the laboratory.
- Mar 23, 2026 Morita presented our research findings orally at the 24th Conference on Biomechanics, organaized by The Japanese Society for Experimental Mechanics, on March 21.
- Mar 14, 2026 Hata, a master's student, received the Excellent Student Award from the Kyushu Branch of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineersfor in recognition of his achievements.
- Mar 10, 2026 Kawakami, a senior undergraduate student, presented our research findings orally at the Conference.
- Feb 24, 2026 A celebration and farewell party for the M2 and B4 students was held after the Master’s and Bachelor’s thesis defense sessions at an izakaya in Shimotori.
- Feb 19, 2026 The results of our collaborative research with Prof. Ng & Dr. Halim’s group at McMaster University in Canada have been published.
- Feb 16, 2026 The Undergraduage Thesis Defense Session was held on February 16. Nine B4 students from our laboratory presented the results of their research conducted over the past years in a poster session.
- Feb 14, 2026 The Master’s Thesis Defense Session was held on February 12 and 13. Five M2 students from our laboratory presented the results of their research conducted over the past two years.

- Jul 25, 2025 Prof. Gu presented his research findings in an invited lecture, and Jiang, a doctoral sutudent, presented his research in a poster session at the JSEM International Conference on Experimental Mechanics (JCEM2025), held in Aoyama Gakuin University, Tokyo, from July 21 to 25.

- May 26, 2025 Chen and Mori, both second-year master’s students, presented their research findings in a poster session at the Conference.
- May 1, 2025 Xiong, a doctoral student, has departed for a short-term research stay at a university in France as part of the Terada Torahiko Fellowship Program.

Mission
We are engaged in the development of advanced experimental mechanics measurement techniques that enable the visualization of physical phenomena at the micro- and nanometer scales. By leveraging mechanical engineering expertise, we strive to unravel the complex mechanical phenomena revealed through this visualization. Furthermore, we aim to utilize the insights gained from our research to pioneer new academic fields, create new value in the industrial sector, and contribute to the development of a better society.
